The artist of my week is Carne Griffiths.

"Working primarily with calligraphy inks, graphite and liquids, such as tea, brandy and vodka Griffiths’ fascination with drawing focuses on the creation and manipulation of the drawn line. Images explore human, geometric and floral forms, in a combination of both literal and abstract translation and in response to images and situations encountered in daily life. Images are recorded in a dreamlike sense onto the page where physical boundaries are unimportant. His work creates a journey of escapism which focuses on scenes of awe and wonder, projecting a sense of abandonment and inviting the viewer to share and explore this inner realm."

Carne does some interesting ethereal works mostly involving the human form.

He also had a show open in Hong Kong last November.

This week for the hand I worked on my abstract series of paintings based on reduction woodcut prints. Sand, Salt, and Paper seem to be the main elements of each piece so far.

I also Finished a set of Magnets for Alex Knox. Tomorrow I put them in the mail and send them to their new home. : P

Rolled an 8 so I worked on a few things to put on shirts (or other things) and sell. Mostly just making the art haven't actually shoveled them onto any products for sale yet. : /

Still today I worked mainly on a SHIRT BABY!

So my boyfriend was putting his laundry away and complaining about the amount of shirts that he has at the moment. One of his comments was an interesting notion where he accused his shirts of reproducing. I thought that was funny and so today I took two of his shirts at random and I am mixing them together in some way or another. Should turn out fairly interesting.

The quick fox jumped over the lazy brown dog.

What?

Poor guy just wanted friends.

I ended up going more towards the fox and dog side than the LOTR side. Although it's never too late to add somethings into it. : P
The basic idea was that the LOTR shirt has a really cute mythical creature on it whereas the other shirt is a visualization of an old typing exercise. Their baby shirt will have aspects of both. The lazy dog is going to be Falinis or Fermac the Irish dog hound of lore. Owned by kings and the guardian of the weird sisters Falinis was said to change shape and size by day and night, was considered the best hunter in lore, and most importantly whenever it bathed (or when its hide came into contact with water) the water would turn into wine.
The quick fox is going to be a fire kitsune. The kitsune are a pretty standard Japanese spirit. In many myths Kitsune can change into human forms and are either servants of gods, companions to people, or tricksters. They have been known to have multiple tails based on their age and power.
I figure since the Balrog over there is made of fire than the kitsune can be as well. Besides that way you have the duality of fire and water since Falinis will be sleeping in water/wine. Also it plays into the old saying of wine being water that holds destructive and impassioned flames. (Fire water)

Either way when it's finished it should be cute : P

Rolled a 7 so I'm postin' some handy work. Most of my work today has been photographic, as it will be for the next week. One of my friends was talking about some of his experiences in school with photography. There was one assignment where he and his class had to take enough photos in a week to submit 300 quality photographs. Then the next week they each were randomly assigned someone elses photos and had to pick the two worst and the two best images out of the group. Next they were each critiqued on their four photographs, however the group was only allowed to critique positively on the worst two photos and negatively on the best two photos.

So we're doing that, so far I think we have five or six people on board and next Saturday we are going to prune and critique and all 'dat. I didn't start until today and so far have taken the majority of the photographs with my phone. Lighting is my friend.

So many brushes.

I'm here darling.

Meh.

Hi! My name is Chris Mann and I am an artist located in Rochester New York. I have this site to put up all of ma' stuff and to help navigate people to my various works and let people know how to contact me.

It's January 9, 2014. Rolled a tree and spent time working on art that make most hetero-normative Americans and international conservatives uncomfortable. So instead I'm leaving up my self portraits. Started this project on May 22, 2011 and have since done a self portrait everyday. As of today I have 963 self portraits. Wowza.

Right on bird, right on.

My face of 2013, photocompiled all my self portraits of the year. I have my Zenphoto gallery which has most of my work posted. Each piece has a list of materials used to make it and the dimensions of the work. I update my self portraits by month here.

Teeeeeeenntacles! I have my blog where I post a new self portrait every day. I generally try to talk about and describe my work a little more on here when I can.

It's January 7, 2014. Rolled a one and am working on my current projects. The current project of the day is Superhero Flix! Making a card game with a friend of mine. He's doing all the business and production and I'm doing all the art and design. 

 

 

The game is pretty simple. You get actors, props, and sets then you try to produce films before your competition. The first set of cards is themed around super hero (or comic book) movies. The items and sets are pretty standard but for the models I have been using pictures of people I know and turning them into superheros. We should have a kickstarter up soon for the game. When we do I will shamelessly plug it everywhere I possibly can manage. Other versions will be stretch goals, like Sci-fi flix and Fantasy Flix. STAY TUNED! or just bookmark me or something, whateva' works.

It's Holiday ti-ems! As such I will be too busy with the Fam' to update and regulate. However I will leave up the stuff about  Thomas Knights because he's cool and it's here and Red Hot goes up soon. Have a series of happy winter solsticey related events and remember Coca-cola Santa is watching you.

Thomas Knights

Thomas Knights began his career as a music producer and performer and quickly realized he also had a talent behind the camera. Inspired by underground visionaries like James Bidgood and Pierre & Gilles, and the greats, like Helmut Newton, Richard Avedon, Guy Bourdin and David LaChapelle,  he has a dark, cinematic yet ‘pop’ approach to photography, film and music.

His many music videos for the likes of Marina And The Diamonds, Willy Moon, Karin Park and Maya Jane Coles have amassed millions of views online, and his photography has been featured in Marie Claire, InStyle, Dazed And Confused  and Vogue Italia.

Besides cutting and pasting from Thomas Knights 'about' page you can also see his photos and videos. His photography is definitely in the realm of fashion photography and is generally well composed with some flare from the music world. His videos are music videos for different music groups like Marina and The Diamonds and the bands listed above. 
He also has a youtube channel were you can see some of his videos and share them easier.

His current project right now that is sweepin' the net is RED HOT.

Red Hot is apparently Thomas Knights' first solo exhibition. It is set to premiere in London at the end of the year and features a cast of high profile, good looking red headed men. Mmmm... anyway it is also in line with the Anti Bullying Alliance. Apparently red headed females are objectified and sexualized and red headed males are reviled and shunned, so Thomas Knights goal is to make some red headed men objects of sexual desire. Here are two links about this show; One that has a -sort of- interview with Thomas Knights, and the second which talks a little about the reason behind the show.
Anyway he seems like a pretty cool cat. Besides how can you not love the red heads.

Only the one shirt and priced a few dollars more than Zazzle. However I've gotten shirts from them before and they are good quality prints in my experience.

Only the one shirt but priced reasonably. I've never gotten anything from them though.

A lot more products (shirts, bags, necklace flasks) to choose from although a little more expensive sometimes.
